Medical Superintendents Group Organizes Free Medical, Surgical Outreach in Gushegu

The Medical Superintendents Group in the Northern Region has organized a two-day free medical and surgical outreach at the Gushegu Municipal Hospital to provide essential healthcare services to people who cannot afford the cost of surgery.
The outreach, which began on Friday, September 25, and ended on Saturday, September 26, 2026, brought together medical superintendents from various hospitals across the region to offer free medical consultations and surgical procedures to patients from Gushegu and surrounding communities.
The initiative aimed to help patients with surgical conditions access treatment at no cost. Beneficiaries were, however, required to present valid National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards.

Speaking to the media, the Northern Regional Chairman of the Medical Superintendents Group, Dr. Richard Anthony, explained that the group comprises medical superintendents from hospitals across the country, with a national president and chairpersons in the various regions.
He said the regional groups were expected to give back to society through free medical and surgical outreaches ahead of the group’s annual conference.
“Having discussed as a group, we agreed to be here at the Gushegu Municipal Hospital as the venue for this year’s free medical and surgical outreach,” Dr. Anthony said.
He added that the group was committed to ensuring that people who needed surgical care but could not afford it received the necessary medical attention.
The Acting Medical Superintendent of the Gushegu Municipal Hospital, Dr. Inusah Adams, welcomed the group and expressed gratitude for choosing the municipality to host the outreach.
“Today is historic, as we have leaders from various hospitals across the region. I would like to thank the group for bringing this initiative to the municipality,” Dr. Adams said.
He reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to providing care for patients and continuing to manage cases that require medical attention.

The Municipal Chief Executive for the Gushegu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Adam Abdul Hafiz who welcomed the visiting medical superintendents commended them for their service to the community.
“On behalf of the Gushegu Municipal Assembly and our traditional leaders, we commend the good work you have been doing. Thank you so much for your selfless commitment to giving back to society. You are here to save lives, may the Lord save yours too,” the MCE said.
The outreach forms part of the Medical Superintendents Group’s efforts in the Northern Region to improve access to healthcare and support patients who face financial barriers to medical and surgical treatment.
