Ghana Closes Payments for 2027 Hajj

The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana has announced the immediate closure of payments for the 2027 Hajj, citing the need to prevent over-subscription and ensure a smooth and well-coordinated pilgrimage.

In a statement dated September 8, 2026, the office said over-subscription had previously created administrative and operational challenges during Hajj operations.

The statement, signed by the Director of Communications, Muhammad Amin Lamsey, said the decision would help align the number of confirmed pilgrims with Ghana’s approved quota for the 2027 pilgrimage.

The office said keeping the number of pilgrims within the approved quota was critical to ensuring a safe and efficient pilgrimage.

It added that the decision was taken in the best interest of prospective pilgrims and the country, particularly to ensure that those who had already completed payment could be successfully airlifted to Saudi Arabia.

Prospective pilgrims who were unable to complete their payments before the closure have been advised to prepare for subsequent Hajj arrangements.

The Pilgrims Affairs Office also warned the public against individuals claiming they could secure Hajj opportunities despite the closure of payments.
