MTN Launches Savannah Festival Football Tournament in Northern Region

MTN Ghana has launched the MTN Savannah Festival Football Tournament in Tamale as part of activities marking the company’s 30th anniversary.

The tournament, launched on Friday, September 18, at Nobisco Park, features 16 teams from communities in the Northern region. Tolon FC and Kakpagi Yili FC played the opening match of the competition.

Speaking at the launch, MTN Area Sales Manager, Mr. Richard Asamane, said the festival uses football to promote unity and strengthen relationships among communities.

He said the number of participating teams has increased from 4 last year to 16 this year as part of the company’s anniversary celebrations.

“…..this year is bigger compared to last year we only had four teams but this year we have 16 teams competing for the ultimate prize as part of our 30th anniversary”. 

Mr. Asamane added that the festival forms part of MTN Ghana’s efforts to give back to communities within its operational areas.

“We know that football is a language, soccer is something Ghanaians love so much through this we intend to foster unity, foster community development through the football gala matches,” Mr. Asamane noted.

The tournament is expected to bring together football teams and enthusiasts from different communities across the Northern Region.
