NPP Delegates Conference: John Boadu Elected NPP National Chairman

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has been elected the party’s National Chairman.

Mr Boadu won the position at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

He polled 2,088 votes to beat former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, who secured 2,048 votes. Former National Chairman Paul Afoko placed third with 490 votes.

Mr Boadu’s election was part of the NPP’s National Delegates Conference which brought together more than 7,000 delegates to elect new officers to nine national positions.

His victory followed a last-minute alliance with Sammy Crabbe who withdrew from the chairmanship race and asked his supporters to vote for Mr. Boadu.

Mr Crabbe announced his decision on Saturday before voting commenced at the conference.

Mr Boadu was also one of the leading contenders in several pre-election surveys conducted ahead of the election.

Meanwhile, Justin Frimpong Kodua has retained his position as the NPP’s General Secretary. Mr Kodua secured 4,486 votes in the closely contested election.

Former Member of Parliament for Ngleshie Amanfro, Sylvester Tetteh, placed second with 1,340 votes.

Eugene Boakye Antwi and Dr Charles Dwamena polled 162 and 126 votes respectively.
